Fifty years ago Braintree Choral Society was established as, and remains today, a non-audition community choir. The choir is proud to have contributed to the artistic life of Braintree and its environs.
Concerts are usually presented three times a year. In recent years these concerts have covered a wide range of choral music from Haydn to Bernstein and from Britten to Purcell. Choir members are always learning and unusual material is included in some concerts which provides interesting challenges for our singers and surprises for our audience – pleasant ones we hope! Much-loved and well-known choral works are performed every year. Some works are performed a capella and concerts are accompanied by organ, piano or orchestral musicians and soloists join the choir for some concerts.
Rehearsals take place weekly, on Tuesdays, at The Old School Room, Manor Street, Braintree, CM7 3HW. Rehearsals are in term time and run from 7.30 – 9.30 pm. Parking is available across the road in the public car park (50p after 7pm). Our season runs from September to June with breaks for Christmas and Easter.
No auditions are required. New singers are always welcome. We do not ask for a subscription for a trial period and there is no subscription for anyone under 26.
